Now, I know that I’ve had most of a bottle of wine. And very little food to accompany it. So it’s possible that I may be feeling more aggrieved than I normally would. But the server on which this site, and two other sites I manage, is hosted has been down for around 8 hours now. As far as I can tell, email is still flaky. All of this I understand, as they had a hard drive failure on the sever. But for the CEO of the company, Todd Mitchell of Site5, to post that “If you’d like credit for the downtime, please email our billing group” seems somewhat backward to me. It should be offered to everyone hosted on the server as a matter of course. For every person like me, and then those whose primary email accounts are hosted on this server, there are probably an equal number of people whose businesses are hosted on this server, and for whom this downtime could have had unfortunate implications.
